VELO Nicotine Pouches Review: Flavors, Strengths & FDA Status
VELO nicotine pouches reviewed as a brand: the 10 US flavors, strengths, 20-pouch cans, who makes them, and why VELO is not FDA authorized.
VELO
VELO is a well-distributed slim pouch with one of the broader flavor ranges on US shelves, but unlike ZYN and on! PLUS it has no FDA authorization.
✓ Pros
- • Ten US flavors across mint, fruit, spice and coffee
- • 20 pouches in every can
- • Tobacco-free, all-white slim pouches
- • Widely sold in US convenience stores
✗ Cons
- • Not FDA authorized (applications submitted, still under review)
- • Strengths vary by flavor, so not every flavor comes in every strength
- • Stronger 7mg cans are too much for new users

TL;DR
VELO is one of the big mainstream nicotine pouch brands in the US: a tobacco-free slim pouch, 20 to a can, in ten flavors, made by R.J. Reynolds Vapor (part of British American Tobacco). It's easy to find in stores and has more flavor variety than ZYN, but it is not FDA authorized. If authorization matters to you, ZYN or on! PLUS are the alternatives.
In one sentence: VELO gives you more flavors and more pouches per can than ZYN, without ZYN's FDA authorization.

The flavors
VELO's US lineup has ten flavors:
- Mint family: Mint, Wintergreen, Spearmint, Peppermint
- Fruit: Citrus, Citrus Burst, Dragon Fruit, Black Cherry
- Spice: Cinnamon
- Coffee: Coffee
That's more variety than ZYN's standard line, especially on the fruit side. We've reviewed several of these individually: Citrus Burst 7mg, Coffee 7mg, Spearmint 7mg, Wintergreen 7mg and Mini Mint 4mg.
Strength
VELO doesn't sell every flavor in every strength. The cans in our records are 4mg and 7mg. The 4mg cans suit regular users; 7mg is a strong pouch and not a starting point for anyone new. Our 3mg vs 6mg guide explains how to choose a strength.
Format and can
VELO is a slim, all-white pouch, so it doesn't stain the way a tobacco pouch can. Every can holds 20 pouches, five more than a standard can of ZYN. Our records list VELO's moisture as slightly moist.
FDA status
VELO is not FDA authorized. Its maker has filed premarket tobacco applications, which are under review; until FDA decides, VELO stays off the authorized list. The authorized nicotine pouches today are ZYN and on!/on! PLUS, listed in our FDA-authorized nicotine pouches guide. Our PMTA tracker follows where each brand stands.
How VELO compares
- ZYN vs VELO: ZYN is authorized and comes 15 to a can; VELO has more flavors and 20 to a can.
- VELO vs on! PLUS: on! PLUS is authorized in Mint, Wintergreen and Tobacco; VELO has more flavors.
- ZAR vs VELO and Lucy vs VELO: for comparisons with smaller online brands.
Who VELO is for
- Good fit: adults who want a mainstream pouch they can buy in person, more flavor choice than ZYN, and 20 pouches per can.
- Not a fit: anyone who wants an FDA-authorized product, and new users looking at the 7mg cans.
Nicotine pouches are for adults 21 and older. Nicotine is addictive.
